Facilities

The large-scale devices and the user group that are to be bundled in an FPS Core Facility are described in detail below. The method pool of the three applicants is complementary. Their interdisciplinary expertise has already been demonstrated in the past through joint publications [1-3]. Both the structural division into the three areas described below and the systematic pooling of the unique expertise in this constellation in an FPS Core Facility are expected to significantly expand the user groups. Table 1 summarises the most important devices divided into scientific areas. Due to the close connection of the FPS to other facilities within FAU EAM, interested users also have easy access to the extensive pool of methods at FAU, which is not covered by the Core Facility (HRTEM, SAXS, SANS, spectroscopy of ideal surfaces in the UHV, …).
