Anisotropic Particles: Tayloring Shape, Interactions and Structures

25. September 2018 - 28. September 2018

The 4-day symposium will be held at the University of Konstanz, located just outside of the city. Oral presentations and postersessions give stage to a variety of discussions.

The symposium covers the entire spectrum, starting with the production and synthesis of particles, through the understanding and tailoring of interactions to the assembly of particle-based materials. On the way to achieving these results, the symposium brings together experts from the fields of theoretical and experimental chemistry and physics as well as related fields.

The symposium is organized by the Collaborative Research Center SFB1214.

Especially early career scientists are encouraged to apply.

Location: Kontanz, Deutschland

10th Brasilian / German Workshop on Applied Surface Science

23. September 2018 - 28. September 2018

This workshop will be the tenth meeting of scientists in surface science and nanoscience from Brazil and Germany stimulated by the successful previous editions of the Brazilian-German Workshops on Applied Surface Science.

The main topics addressed at this workshop deal with fundamental problems (theory and experiment) in surface science and nanoscience as well as corresponding applications. Special emphasis is given to the areas of nanostructured materials, thin films, polymers, devices and catalysis, all of which seem to be an active area in both countries and also represent promising perspectives for the future.

Location: Bad Dürkheim, Germany

PBM 2018

20. September 2018 - 21. September 2018

Erlangen, GermanyPBM2018_Banner_web
Following the highly successful first Particle Based Materials Symposium held in Saarbrücken in 2017 you are cordially invited to Erlangen for the 2018 Symposium.

The goal of the Particle Based Materials Symposium is to bring together scientists and engineers from different communities that all share the goal of creating functionality in materials using particles. The synthesis, processing and materials integration of particles into thin films, bulk matrices, fibers or other geometries are covered by this symposium.

A strong focus will be on the development of scalable processes, novel modelling or characterisation techniques as well as material properties that can be achieved using particles and that would be hard to obtain using other approaches. Anisotropic, complex particles, and supraparticles that bring new or multiple functionalities to materials are of particular interest.

  • Synthesis (bottom up, top down), (in situ) characterisation (including new multidimensional techniques) and processing (purification, formulation, etc.) of particles to be used in advanced materials
  • Special types of particles (anisotropic particles, supraparticles, multifunctional particles, etc.) Assembly, arrangement, alignment and patterning of particles in films and bulk materials
  • Multiscale simulations of particle growth, assembly and properties
  • Applications of particle based materials with targeted (multi)functions (magnetic, optical, electronic, structural, chemical, biological, etc.)

Contributions (oral and poster) from researchers at all levels are highly appreciated.
