Powder X-Ray Diffraction

X-Ray Diffractometer | PANalytical, Empyrean Series 2 & Philips, X’PERT MPD

Location: ECRC, Egerlandstraße 3a, 91058 Erlangen, Room 00.026

Both diffractometer are opperated in Bragg-Bentano geometry and equipped with a Cu-alpha X-ray tub. The X’Pert is equiped with a X’Celerator detector and an auto sampler, while the Empyrean Series  with a PIXcel3D 1×1 Detector and either an Anton Paar TTK 600 or an Anton Paar CHC plus+ humidity chamber.

Dr. Marcus Fischer

X’Pert MPD diffractometer:

The TX’Pert MPD (Materials Powder Diffractometer) is equipped with an automatic sample changer to allow material screening and routine analysis at room temperature.

  • Sample changer for 15 samples
  • Scan range: 3°-150° (2θ)
  • Step size: 0.001°-1.27°

Empyrean Series 2 diffractometer:

  • Scan range: 3°-150° (2θ)
  • Step size: 0.001°-1.27°
  • Sample holder for planar substrates (reflection)
  • Anton Paar TTK 600:
    • Powder measurement (static)
    • Nitrogen cooling for low temperature measurements
    • Temperature ranges:
      • -193 °C to 450 °C with vacuum
      • -193 °C to 300 °C without vacuum
  • Anton Paar CHC plus+ humidity chamber:
    • Powder measurement (static)
    • Temperature range: RT to 300 °C
    • Relative humidity from 5% to 95%
